The Educational Justice Conference provides ALL educators a scholarly, welcoming environment to network, research and share best practices; while embracing the core concept of equity and equality for ALL students. 

The 2024 theme of the Educational Justice Conference is Inclusion, Collaboration and Advocacy.

  • Inclusion - Providing a space in which ALL students and educators feel embraced.
  • Collaboration - Working together to ensure ALL students thrive.
  • Advocacy - Promote, support, and defend to help meet the needs for ALL students.

The 2023 Educational Justice Conference in Athens, Greece provided a holistic learning experience in which participants were not only able to present research, but also network with professionals from ten countries, tour the University of Athens and meet with representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Greece. Greece is a wonderful place to study the fundamentals of education, research education policy, and explore early educational sites.

Themes

Inclusion

  • Inclusion Presentation – Papers on this topic should include practices or policy providing equal access to opportunities for all students.
  • Inclusion Workshop – Workshops should provide practical guidance and best practices for inclusive classrooms.

Collaboration

  • Collaboration Paper – Papers on this topic should include best practices in teamwork for promoting equity in education.
  • Collaboration Workshop – Workshops highlighting collaboration should present replicable real-world instances of teamwork to promote equity in education.

Advocacy

  • Advocacy Paper – Papers on this topic should address or share action based examples of supporting equity in education.
  • Advocacy Workshop – Workshops on advocacy should provide guidance in building a platform or working with policymakers to support equity in education.

What is Educational Justice?

The concept of Educational Justice centers on the belief that every student can learn and should have the opportunity to do so. Educational Justice sheds light on the policies and practices within educational institutions. Educational Justice requires education leaders to address:
  • Inclusion
  • Language barriers
  • Poorly trained teachers
  • Non-safe educational environments
  • Overcrowded classrooms
  • Outdated curriculums
  • Lack of adequate materials

Conference Delivery Options

In-Person Presentation

One or more presenter for a 20-minute face-to-face presentation. There will be a five-minute question or comment section at the end of each presentation.

Poster Presentation (In-Person)

Posters will be displayed in designated room. Presenters may display their posters on the table or using an easel. Easels will be provided and have dimensions of 2.5" x 2.5" x 65" (weight of 2.25 lbs). Presenters will visually display their topics and should be prepared to have a short speech prepared to engage the participants.

Online/Virtual

Presenters may give a virtual presentation. The virtual presentation will be prerecorded (20-minute maximum). Although the presentation is prerecorded, presenters will have the opportunity to interact with participants via chat during the session and can answer questions “live” after the session.

Proposal Submission Guidelines

Are you ready to submit your proposal? The Educational Justice Conference welcomes your submission! Please read this page carefully before you begin work on your proposal.

1. Focus on the theme of the conference.

Is your topic relevant? Will your topic engage the audience? Determine which area of the theme you will target. Decide how many presenters you will have.

2. Select a delivery option.

Posters will be displayed in designated room. Presenters may display their posters on the table or using an easel. Presenters will visually display their topics and should be prepared to have a short speech prepared to engage the participants.

3. Develop your abstract

(1,500 character limit). Proposals are peer reviewed based on relevancy of topic, adherence to conference theme, and the overall quality of the submission (impact, comprehensiveness, and accuracy).
